Verifex Documentation
Overview, concepts, and implementation guide for brands
This documentation page introduces core concepts, how Verifex works end-to-end, and what brands need to know to deploy, manage, and benefit from the platform.
1. Platform Overview
Verifex Security Services Ltd provides a QR-based product authentication and anti-counterfeiting platform for brands and their customers.
- Each protected product unit is linked to a unique verification code stored in a secure database.
- A QR code on the product encodes a verification URL that points to Verifex.
- When a customer scans the QR, the system checks the code in real time and returns a clear result: genuine (first use), genuine (repeated), or invalid/fake, along with time and approximate location.
- The platform records all scan events and provides analytics, alerts, and reporting to brand owners.
2. Key Concepts and Terminology
- Verification Code
- A unique serialized value assigned to an individual product unit.
- QR Code
- A machine-readable symbol printed on the product that contains a verification URL with the code embedded as a parameter.
- Verification Page
- A brand-branded page on verifexglobal.com that displays the result after a scan.
- Scan Event
- A single verification attempt; includes code, outcome, time, and approximate location.
- Batch
- A group of verification codes generated for a specific product or production run.
- Brand Dashboard
- The admin interface where brand users see analytics, receive alerts, and manage configuration.
3. How Product Verification Works
3.1 Code and QR Generation
- Verifex generates a batch of unique verification codes for a chosen product and variant.
- Each code is stored in the Verifex database with product and batch metadata.
- QR codes are created pointing to a URL such as:
https://www.verifexglobal.com/BRAND?fwcode=UNIQUECODE - The codes/QR images are exported securely for printing and placement on product packaging.
3.2 Consumer Verification Flow
- Consumer locates the Verifex QR label and scratch or security area on the product.
- They scratch (if applicable) and scan the QR with a smartphone.
- The browser opens the brand's verification page on Verifex.
- The platform:
- Extracts the verification code.
- Looks up the code in the database.
- Records a scan event with time and approximate location.
- Returns a result.
3.3 Result Types
Genuine – First Scan
- Product image shown.
- Brand information displayed.
- Exact time and approximate location recorded and shown.
- Message confirms the product is genuine and original.
Genuine – Code Used More Than Once
- Product image and brand information shown.
- Time and location for current scan shown.
- Warning that the code has been used before and may indicate a counterfeit if the current user did not perform the first scan.
- First scan time and total number of scans displayed.
Invalid / Fake Code
- Product image not shown.
- Clear message that the code is invalid or not recognized.
- Time and location recorded.
- "Report this product to the brand" button available.
4. Repeated Scans, Alerts, and Law Enforcement Support
Verifex monitors scan patterns to identify potential code cloning or counterfeit activity.
- Single genuine scan – Normal behavior; no alert.
- Multiple scans of same code – Platform warns consumers on the verification page.
- Up to three scans from different locations – The system can automatically:
- Send email notifications to brand owners and Verifex admins.
- Create dashboard alerts listing exact times and locations.
These alerts indicate that the code or label may have been copied and reused on counterfeit products. The historical data (scan events and consumer reports) can then be used by brand protection teams and law enforcement to investigate and act.
5. Fake Results and Consumer Reporting
For invalid or suspicious scans:
- The verification page does not display the product image.
- A clear warning explains that the code is not recognized or suspected fake.
- Consumers can submit detailed reports including purchase location, seller information, photos, and comments.
- Reports are forwarded to brand owners for investigation and potential enforcement action.
6. Analytics and Insights
The Verifex dashboard provides brands with:
- Real-time scan volumes and trends
- Geographic distribution of verifications
- Product and batch performance metrics
- Counterfeit alerts and risk indicators
- Export capabilities for reporting and analysis
7. Integration and API
Verifex provides comprehensive APIs and integration options for brands that need to connect the platform with their existing systems:
- REST APIs for code generation and management
- Webhooks for real-time event notifications
- Data export APIs for analytics and reporting
- SDKs for common programming languages
8. Best Practices
To maximize the effectiveness of Verifex:
- Apply QR codes securely to packaging during production
- Educate customers about verification and encourage scanning
- Monitor dashboard alerts regularly and respond to suspicious activity
- Use scan data to inform supply chain and distribution decisions
- Coordinate with legal and enforcement teams on counterfeit cases
